* Phrasal of the day:
TO LAY AWAY: Save for the future.
- You'd better lay away money in case there's an emergency.
- If you want to travel in December, just lay away your holidays from now.
* Idioms of the day:
OUT OF THE BLUE: Suddenly; all of a sudden.
- We were good friends, but he changed his personality out of the blue.
We were setting the tent up and, out of the blue, it started raining.
* Proverb of the day:
Better to die with honor than live with shame: It is more honourable to do the right thing even if you will be punished or have to die for it than to live as a coward or a liar.
* Riddle:
Guest, There were five men going to church and it started to rain. The four that ran got wet and the one that stood still stayed dry. Why?
* Grammar Tip:
SAY and TELL: These verbs are commonly confused by learners of English. Try to memorise sentences which are meaningful to you so that you don't forget what their differences are when reporting what someone mentioned:
› He said that the film was good;
he said to me that the film was good.
› She told me that she didn't like the film.
* Famous quote: I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific. ~ Lily Tomlin

Gimme5! :-)
Here's how it goes:I make up a category. Let's say "Name 5 brands you usually buy" The next poster will name brands and then he picks the next category. Then someone else gives the list for the previous category and picks their own. And so on...
Keep it light, funny and original. That's what makes it different from the game [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], as this one's far more personal.
Here's your first category:
Give me 5 celebrities you wish would go away forever.

Re: Gimme5! :-)
Hard thing to try...
- Daniel or Daniela (the second one being the female name in Spanish. My mother wanted that name for my latest sister who passed away, and I'm sure that will be the name of my first niece!)
- Sara/Sarah
- Mariana/Marianne
- Sebastian
- Sandra
Give me 5 films you've seen and didn't like.

Re: Gimme5! :-)
Come to find some relax in the middle of the storm
District 9
Tangled (Vanessa think I love it :S)
Alien vs. Predator
The Simpson movie (I've got to confess I felt I lost my money)
One hundred years of solitude (To tell the truth Marquez books based films are not what I'd expect)
So, now Give me 5 books you laugh while reading
Next week I'll be back participating in the whole forum

Re: Gimme5! :-)
I'll make sure I won't invite you, then.

Books I've laughed at while reading them...
1. The National Constitution of Colombia. I laugh as I remember how easy it is for the same authorities to break these articles and get away with it. Thank you, Mr ex-President.
2. Stephen King's The Mist.
3. Robert Ludlum's Road to Omaha. It's a funny book with weird characters!
4. Sr Arthur Connan Doyle's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Of course, nothing like the source book!
5. Pearson Longman's Side by Side.
Give me 5 foreign dishes you've tasted.
